- Dress in layers
- Wear a hat-heat escapes your body through your head
- Stay dry - wet clothes draws heat from the body
- Go indoors at regular intervals
- Beware of FROSTNIP - cheeks, nose, ears, fingers,
& toes may be affected
- Symptoms: white and numb
- First Aid: Immerse chilled body parts in warm,
not hot, water until all sensation returns. Remember let someone
other than the injured person control the water temperature! Numb
hand won't feel heat and a person can be severely burned by water
that is too hot.
- FROSTBITE - white waxy skin that feels numb
and is hard. This requires immediate emergency medical attention.
