In the past year Grandma's Camp
has been able to reach out to several thousand people and to enable 600
persons to participate in a Grandma's Camp experience. In 2007 Grandma's
Camp located a "temporary" home at the Youth Incorporated Camp
in LaVErgne, TN. This enabled Grandma's Camp to host its first successful
"Overnight" camp!
As we continue with our Capital Campaign,
both our Annual Donors and our Volunteers make Grandma's Camp possible.
I would like to invite you to become an Annual Donor where any contribution
is most appreciated. Of course it will be tax deductible.
It is not often that we have the opportunity
to have an impact on the the hearts and minds of our children. Please
make your donation today. A donation that will help build a permanent
home for Grandma's Camp and create lasting memories for our children and
our seniors.

Kids Benefit From Camping
by Charles Smith
Children in the twenty-first century have
many more indoor distractions than ever before; such as the Internet,
video games, television, etc. and with today's technology these
distractions can even follow them outside as in the cell phones
and other mobile devices. Camping offers a way to reconnect with
nature and to learn to appreciate the simple pleasures that can
exhilarate the senses. The sights, smell, and activities of rustic
camping combine to all the brain to function more holistically.
The freedom from electronic clutter can allow it to"reboot."
When kids camp they learn to appreciate
the joys of nature and how to be good caretakers of it, as well
as learning how to survive with it. The experience of being in nature
is much more rewarding that watching nature on a screen. The benefits
from camping can help youth to improve their social and team-building
skills, to create healthy and active means of having fun, and to
make friends and memories to last a lifetime.
